My goal is to write every day for the next 10 days. I’m using a book of creating writing prompts along with the motivation and resources from Bradley Charbonneau at passthesourcream.com (Yes, that’s the name of the site!) Here goes…
Dear Writer’s Block,
It’s not you, it’s me. I’ve given in to you and succumbed to your seductions for far too long. There’s no one to blame for where I am right now other than myself. You offered me the opportunity to not suffer the pain of disapproval and rejection. It was good while it lasted, but I have grown beyond that now. I am stronger and more confident. So, we do need to end our relationship.
in college and seminary days, I would write and even consider myself a fairly good writer. Back in the mid eighties I even wrote a weekly column in our local newspaper. It was well received. Somehow, I’ve lost that joy.
Today, I begin anew. I have entered a new phase of my journey. Writing is a significant part of that journey. If I continue our relationship, it will keep me from moving forward.
I do apologize for giving this news to you in writing, but it is necessary to help me make a clean break. I wish I could say, “We can still be friends”. However, that would be neither helpful nor appropriate. If you show up in the future, I’ll be kind, but will have to send you away.
Thanks for the fun! Now it’s time to get to work!
